2. We pledge to waste less, dump less and compost
"You can't throw away perfectly good garbage" Dominique Guillard demonstrates the composting tumbler. There are vaious ways to compost. Beginners can collect fresh table scraps in a coffee container and distribute into the landscape beds.
Aileen Waech explains composting as returning nutrients to rebuild soil.
3. We pledge to recycle, re-use, re-gift and refuse to acquire more than needed. Door prizes which featured climate solutions included a counter top composter, small trees, compact fluorescent bulbs, low flow shower heads, gift certificate for fresh fruit, recycled paper, The Give Bags and reusable carrying bags, gift boxes. and beverage containers. Tickets for the prizes were earned by sharing ways to bring climate solutions into our home. Some of these excellent ideas are included on this webpage.
4. We pledge to reduce electrical consumption - a time clock was installed on the water heater at the Church of Our Savior to enable water to be heated only when needed in lieu of 24/7. Other suggested ways to reduce electrical consumption included: a) turn up the AC thermostat, b) walk the stairs instead of riding the elevator, c) turn off the TV before falling asleep in front of the TV, d) learn about VRV air conditioning systems which consume much less electrical power , and e) create a clothes drying hanging rod. Fluff blouses, shirts and slacks briefly in the dryer then hang on hangers to dry.

Other suggestions include: a) pledge to have at least one meat and cheese free meal or day each week, b) plant a vegetable garden for fresh season vegetables, c) grow hanging patio vegetables like tomatoes, d) east less processed food and more local foods to reduce emissions related to food production and transportation, e) plan an "eco friendly" dinner party, and f) share recipes for raw or minimally cooked entrees. 10. We pledge to educate, Influence, and be a role model Marlene Ross, Boynton Beach City Commissioner reviewed the process and the success with creating the "Green Alliance" in the City of Boynton Beach. Focus is on Public Education, Water Conservation, Waste Reduction and Sustainable Construction.
