Global Marshall Plan

 The Global Marshall Plan, a national security straegy of generosity and care, was developed by Rabbi Lerner and the Network of Spiritual Progressives in consultation with Rep. Keith Ellison.     H.Res 1016  requesting that the U.S. to become a world leader to empower poeple to support themselves has been introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Keith Ellison in April 2009 and January 2010. 

Whereas:   the US has one of the highest levels of poverty among industrial countries and the economic gap between the rich and the poor is even greater today than following WW II,  and empowering people in the U.S. and abroad to support themselve will provide a solid foundation for global economic recovery.   

 The Global Marshall Plan is a plan for all the world's peoples to work in solidarity to eliminate poverty and to heal the environmental crisis.   For information on how the Global Marshall Plan could be implemented, see GMP. . a good read.

Res 1016 has been referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs.     Committee Chairman Howard Berman  (D Ca) has set foreign assistance reform as a key priority for the Committee.   Through letters, e-mails and meetings with U.S. Representatives of this Committee, we are encouraging integrating the principles of the Global Marshall Plan in our foreign assistance.    You can help  support this reform by e-mailing  or writing your representative in Congress.
